Rahul Gandhi’s Defence Panel Attendance Under Scrutiny

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to defence matters is being questioned following revelations about his attendance record in the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. He attended just two out of the ten meetings held during the current Modi government’s third term.

Irony of Absence: Previously Criticized HAL’s Performance

The irony of the situation isn’t lost on observers. In 2019, Mr. Gandhi vehemently criticized the Modi government regarding Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) performance. Yet, when the committee specifically addressed the performance of defence Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including HAL, Mr. Gandhi was notably absent.

BJP Responds to Gandhi’s Attendance Record

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has seized upon this information, criticizing Mr. Gandhi’s seemingly selective engagement with defence issues. This has further fueled the ongoing political debate surrounding the country’s defence priorities and oversight.
