Supreme Court Clears Karnataka CM’s Wife in MUDA Land Case, Slams ED’s Politicization

In a significant victory for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Supreme Court dismissed the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) appeal against his wife, BM Parvathi, in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land case. The court’s decision upholds the Karnataka High Court’s earlier ruling quashing the summons issued to Mrs. Parvathi.

Supreme Court Questions ED’s Motives

The Supreme Court bench, comprising Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran, expressed strong criticism of the ED’s involvement in the case. The justices questioned the agency’s motives, suggesting the case was being used for political battles.

“Let Political Battles Be Fought in Public Domain”

“Let political battles be fought among the electorate. Why are you being used for it?” the Bench remarked, cautioning the ED that further such actions might lead to strong remarks about the agency’s conduct. The court’s stance underscores the importance of keeping legal proceedings separate from political agendas.
