Kochi, June 10, 2025 — In an inspiring blend of sportsmanship and sustainability, the Kerala Blasters Army, the passionate and official fan club of Kerala Blasters FC, concluded its meaningful environmental initiative, “A Tree for a Goal,” which ran from June 1 to June 7 across all 14 districts of Kerala.

This campaign wasn’t just about celebrating football—it was about planting the future. 52 saplings were planted across the state, each one representing the 52 goals scored by Kerala Blasters FC throughout the 2024–25 football season, spanning the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup.

🌿 Football’s Impact Beyond the Pitch

The campaign stood on a simple but impactful principle: “One Goal. One Tree.” Each goal was not only a moment of sporting brilliance but also a seed of environmental hope. The initiative united fans of all ages in a shared mission—to transform the spirit of football into tangible ecological action.

“Every goal scored was a moment of pride. Now, each tree planted becomes a lasting symbol of that pride and our duty to the planet,” said a spokesperson from the Kerala Blasters Army.

🌳 From Cheering Crowds to Planting Hands

This heartfelt movement saw active participation from communities, football lovers, and state leaders. Among the notable attendees were Sri. P. Prasad, Kerala’s Agriculture Minister, who lauded the initiative, and T.G. Purushothaman, Kerala Blasters assistant coach and former Santosh Trophy champion, who personally joined fans in planting trees.

The campaign’s success was powered by the unwavering dedication of Army state committee members: Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—all of whom worked tirelessly to turn a symbolic idea into meaningful, on-ground action.

💛 Kerala Blasters Army: Champions of the Community

Formed in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has long been known for its thunderous support from the West Gallery of Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. But their influence goes well beyond match days. With numerous social campaigns, blood drives, and youth outreach efforts, the Army has cemented its role as a force for good.

With “A Tree for a Goal,” they’ve taken another leap—bringing football and environmental consciousness together in a campaign that will now become an annual tradition.

🌱 What’s Next: Growing the Movement

The Kerala Blasters Army plans to expand this campaign in the seasons to come—hoping to involve students, eco-volunteers, and local organizations to plant even more trees and spread climate awareness. Each future goal by Kerala Blasters FC will continue to carry dual significance—victory for the club, and victory for nature.

“Our aim is simple,” said lead coordinator Abhijith K.S. “To make every goal matter not just in the scoreboard, but in the soil beneath our feet.”
